5 Short Weeks...

...and it will be Husker Season!!
"Bo Pelini's wristwatch doesn't have numbers on it.
It simply says 'Time to Kick Ass.'"

I was so excited, I went out and got this Tattoo:
Um, I don't think so.
(But I AM excited!)

I hope to see plenty of THIS:

"That's what you get when you mess with SUH!!"

OH!! I forgot....

Can't wait to see you, Kirk! kiss-kiss!

Ahhh.....there is no place like Nebraska...

Dear Mr. Herbstreit:

It is a sad, sad day, my love. With a very heavy heart, I am writing to tell you that I have to move on. It isn’t you, it’s me. I am afraid after many years of being devoted to you, your commentating skills, the crisp clean suits you wear and that gorgeous blond hair, I find my eyes wandering elsewhere. Yes, we’ve had some good times…I truly believe that you have always been fair to me (and my beloved Huskers), but maybe this “break” is for the best.

You will forever be in my heart, and I won’t forget all you’ve done for me and all you’ve taught me about the art of college football. Yes, there might be a day that I come crawling back, begging you to take me back, but for now I need to take my chances with someone new. When I look at this person, I hear a choir of angels singing, the clouds part and the sun shines ever so bright. There are no questions that need to be answered, no worrying about bills to pay or laundry to be done. All the world is right. I know you will be hurt, but remember, we had a good run, and who knows what the future holds for us.
Sincerely,

Jesse Palmer’s NEW GIRLFRIEND
(Isn’t he a HOTTIE, chicas?! –HOLY SMOKES!)

*Sigh* ---It's a Bye Week...

Top Ten Reasons I Love College Football (aka, Husker Season):

10. Trick Plays—You have to admit, seeing Marlon Lucky, an I -back, throw a 20 yard touchdown pass to Joe Ganz is pretty darn amazing.

9. Random High-Fives: Nothing brings strangers together like cheering for the same team. Plus, who doesn’t like a high five every once in a while? Just thinking about it makes me smile!

8. Chili –yep, I said chili…I love making it and there’s no better time than when the air is brisk, and there’s a football game on the tube. Along with a side of Bean-O, it makes a perfect meal! (Have respect for your fellow chili eaters and take the damn Bean-O, okay?!)

7. Tailgating—beer and football…does life get any better?

6. Upsets—I hope we’re in for a few surprises this year throughout all conferences. I don’t know why, but my blood starts to boil when I hear someone mutter the words “Pete Carroll” or “Chase Daniel.” –puke. I realize that we’re not playing USC this year, but that doesn’t mean that I won’t root for whatever team is playing against them, no matter who it is. And if ESPN plays that stupid commercial where Chase Daniel is running the ball in for a touchdown and he does this girlie little jump into the end zone ONE MORE TIME, I just might poke my right eye out. Maybe it’s just because the team he’s scoring against is NEBRASKA. What an awful game....

5. Bowl Games—There’s something about watching a day jam-packed full of FB games in the middle of the winter that just gets me going! Hopefully, the “’skers” will get to one this year!

4. Tight Ends—Their versatility and speed help create mismatches in coverage, thereby opening up a team's passing attack… Why, what did you think I was talking about?

3. Joe Ganz— Every year I have “my player” on the Husker team. This year it’s My Buddy Joe. It really helps that he’s CUTE and that I am a sucker for dimples. Oh yeah, and he can pass, run, and catch…some pretty important things when you play football. I don’t think that qualifies me as a Cougar, does it? (Enter cougar-like sound affect and cat hand gesture -here-)

2. The Tunnel Walk—for some reason, I hear this and I abruptly have to pee…my pants.

And the Number One Reason I love College Football Season Is...

1. Kirk Herbstreit—I guess, sitting next to that ugly mug of Lee Corso’s, almost ANYONE would look good, but KH has my attention every time he speaks. How else would I know what I know about Football? Plus, at the beginning of the season, he said that Nebraska has the most to prove this season and he thinks they’re going to surprise everyone. "You would say that, just for me?! I...well, I... I just don't know how to respond!" ...LOL, we’ll see what happens once we start playing the conference games. Either way, I *heart* you, KH!

What is it with me and making lists? I think it's hereditary(?)
Until next time…..

Side note: I would LOVE if you would share your comments with me! I know that there are at least two people that read my blog (thanks Mom--and Meghan) but I would like to know who else is out there! Feel free to make whatever comments you’d like. Feedback to a “writer” like myself is always welcome!!! Just click on the "Comments" link below the entry and share with me!! THANKS!!

My BO-friend's Back!!

I looked at the clock: 6:30 a.m. Although I desperately wanted to, I couldn't fall back to sleep. It was the first Husker Gameday, and I was going to be at Memorial Stadium in less than 12 hours. So, after tossing and turning for another 15-20 minutes, I got up and looked into my parent's room to see if either of them were awake. No luck--they were sound asleep. I felt like I was a kid again, wanting to tap on one of their shoulder's and say "I can't sleep." But, since I'm an adult, I decided against it and went downstairs to read the Pre-game in the sports section and to also play with my new 'toy' --a digital camera. (Yep, I finally stepped into the 21st Century! Congrats to me--LOL). I familiarized myself with some different settings and modes and anxiously awaited for ESPN CollegeGameday to start. Kirk Herbstreit is my "Fall Boyfriend." (more on that as the season progresses.) Finally my parents woke up and I was able to share my excitement with other people. I think my Dad thought I was on drugs or something. He wasn't nearly as pumped as I was that early in the morning.
Anisa and Nancy came to pick me up to go tailgating around 1:00. It was HOT, but it was awesome to be in the mix downtown. Lots of people, lots of tailgating, lots of fun. My dad met up with us a little later, and he was anxious to get into the stadium to soak up some of the atmosphere. The tunnel walk was amazing…I’m really proud of myself, my bladder cooperated this year. So what, last year, I got a little overly-excited at the first game and peed a little. If I were 20 years older, I’d probably consult a physician, but for now I’m not worried.

All in all, the game was good. It’s fun to “talk football” with my Dad. I will never admit to him that I am not 100% sure what the Spread Offense is, or that the only reason I buy the programs is to check out the hot college guys (only if they’re 20 and over…I have morals, people), but I have always been grateful to learn about a sport that he loves and that he is always more than willing to answer my questions, even if I’ve asked it a dozen times before.

Chalk up a “W” for the first game of the Bo Pelini era. My shirt that read “My BO-friends Back” was a crowd favorite. I guess I haven’t worn a printed T-shirt in a while. Kinda weird to have people look at The Girls, crinkle their brow with confusion, start smiling and THEN look at your face. Felt like I was back in Junior High (“Yes boys, these are boobs. And, just for the record, my eyes are UP HERE.” ) One old guy even gave me the ‘thumbs up’ sign. Lucky me.

Enjoy the picturesJ
Tippy Cup, anyone?!
Lovely Anisa!
I love this pic of my Dad...he did not share my enthusiasm when he saw it!
LOL--this is a sight you don't see every day!

Trying out some different settings on my *new* camera!

GO BIG RED!

Until Next Time!
